New: On the trail of Jewish lives in the Spandau suburb
The Anne Frank Zentrum offers an independent tour with the so-called iGuide. The iGuide is a small device which is easy to use and which allows you to undertake an individual audio-visual tour through the Spandau suburb. Spandau is a place of great cultural and historical interest in the heart of Berlin. Via headphones the iGuide provides informative texts on selected locations, and on its screen you can look at historical photographs or watch interviews with contemporary witnesses - in German or English.
Starting from the Anne Frank Zentrum the hour-long tour will take you to interesting places of Jewish significance, both past and present, such as the oldest Jewish cemetery in Berlin, the Jewish high school or to the monument "The Deserted Room" at the Koppenplatz.
The device can be borrowed during the opening hours of the Anne Frank Zentrum for a fee of 5 Euros. As security you will have to leave a valid identity card or passport. The tour was developed together with the German Resistance Memorial Centre.
